The topics we memorize will depend on the Cycle we are in. We memorize material for English, Latin, History, Geography, Math, Science, and Timeline. It is repetitive and quick, but it’s easy to catch on and helpful to me as the parent. If it seems like a lot, don’t stress! There can be a song for almost everything to make it so easy to remember and practice! For new grammar, the tutor goes through each subject demonstrating the new material we will practice throughout the week at home. ![]() The segments include new grammar, science, fine arts, presentation and review. Each part of the day is broken up into 30 minutes. We meet one day a week, and we begin at 9:15 for an opening, family presentation (like an introduction), and prayer.Īt 9:30, students go to their classes and begin working on the new grammar for the week. Students in Foundations meet once a week for half a day.Įvery community will have some differences, but the content should be mostly the same. They do a lot of learning just in that half day, and you’ll see that as you continue reading. Sometimes I may read from our read aloud or I might take some time to catch up on a subject, if needed. The easiest day to plan is Community Day, because it doesn’t change, and we have to be there. All of these ages play a part in our day to day rhythm. I hope this encourages someone to look deeper into the reasons you have chosen to homeschool.I think when some people begin to consider adding Classical Conversations to their homeschool, they think it might be too much. ![]() I love our time together and the opportunities this curriculum has given us to glorify God. I have added a few things for my high schooler that she has to have: foreign language, British Literature, and Algebra 2. And not only are we feeling fulfilled, our Umbrella School, HomeLife Academy has recognized GR for high-school credits. My son, with special needs has thanked me over and over for finding GR. This is the most excited I, as the teacher/parent, and my children have ever been about homeschooling.EVER. I have only completed North American Birds and we are currently working through US Government. I have used Abeka, Sonlight, Christian Light, Rod and Staff, Genesis Curriculum, and we did Classical Conversations for 3 years. ![]() My 2nd grader is severely delayed and has special needs. I am teaching 11th, 6th, 2nd, and preschool. I have read several posts the past few days about GRH not being enough and I want to offer some encouragement.
